We deeply value our long term partnership, since Rev. Richard Lloyd came and joined the team at Holy Trinity Claygate in 2011. Through your generosity and prayers our pastors and staff team have enhanced the lives of so many through their ministry, their social welfare projects and our bible college.

During these unsettling times we really do appreciate your prayers and support.

What is the situation in India at the moment?

India is battling a ferocious second save of the Coronavirus, which has no boundaries,  impacting the major cities, the small towns and the rural areas.

The impact in the smaller towns such as Cumbum and Salem is largely unreported but it is deeply concerning. State governments and private organisations are endeavouring to source oxygen, open temporary hospitals and kick start the national vaccination programme.

Families are once again in fear of the virus, unemployed due to lockdown and face financial instability. This is all coupled with personal tragedy, grief and anxiety.

What about the communities in Tamil Nadu and Kerala?

Hope Gardens works with 20 communities in Southern India in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. We have first hand reports from those villages and towns through our network of faithful Pastors. Reports from our communities highlight the key issues that families are facing. In addition to fearing and experiencing the virus families are facing joblessness, anxiety about financial issues, limited food supply and widespread depression.

Our Medical Centre and services

Our medical centre is still open and we are working with the local Cumbum Government hospital to ensure that patients can receive the care they need. With an increase in demand and for their protection our doctors, nurses and support staff team need more PPE equipment. 

As part of our awareness programme our community nurses need to distribute hygiene packs so that vulnerable families can protect themselves and also ensure that key workers have the equipment they need. 

Relief Packages

Vulnerable individuals and families identified by Hope Garden's pastoral team and staff across 20 communities will receive our relief packages. A relief package will be donated which, for example, will include rice, grains, vegetables, oil, toiletries, hygiene products. The cost of this is £15. Within the lockdown restrictions our pastors will purchase the items for the community and then distribute according to need.

 

How can I help?

A donation towards our appeal will enable us to care for the vulnerable by providing support and food parcels and maintaining our medical services.
