What is the situation in Manipur?

Ethnic violence broke out in Manipur on May 3, 2023, resulting in 140 deaths with over 1,000 christian churches burned, temples ruined and an estimated 50,000-60,000 people displaced.

The violence has been largely concentrated in an area where the majority Meitei community and the tribal Kuki community (mostly Christian) have been clashing.

The government and army have set up over 340 camps to provide shelter and food for the displaced people. Different organizations across the country are also providing medication, food, and support.

Our Response to the Situation in Manipur

We are responding to the situation in Manipur by providing the following:

  • Shelter for displaced families, including food, accommodation, and schools for their children.
  • Part-time work in our paddy fields for some workers.
  • Jobs, accommodation, and food for two Bible college teachers.
  • Education, accommodation, and food for 10 Bible college students who have had their studies disrupted.

We are committed to providing relief and support to the people of Manipur affected by this violence. We believe that everyone deserves to live in peace and security, and we will continue to work to help those who have been affected by this tragedy.

How You Can Help

You can help the people of Manipur by donating to our relief fund. Your donation will help us to provide food, shelter, education, and other essential services to those who have been affected by the violence.

We have committed to support 10 bible college students for at least 12 months and we require £100/ student per month to support them.

We would like to employ to 2 displaced university lecturers in theology and support them and their families.

We have accommodation for families and can provide work in our paddy field however we need to cover the cost of food and shelter and school fees for these families and children.

Together, we can help the people of Manipur rebuild their lives and support our Christian brothers and sisters as they experience persecution.

Thank you for your support.
