Paddy field Harvest Appeal

Harvest Paddyfield Appeal

We currently own 3.34 acres of paddy but this summer the opportunity arose to purchase an additional 1.68 acres of land adjacent to our dining hall and existing paddy field. It was an answer to prayer. This land not only allows us direct access to our paddy field, it gives us security over our site and enables us to cultivate the land on our terms. The land was secured at market rate for Hope Gardens and we are now hoping to raise £10,000 to cover the remaining purchase cost.

Hope Gardens has 3.34 acres of paddy field adjacent to this piece of land. During the previous harvest God blessed us with 135 bags of paddy and 7 loads of straw from this land

What is the benefit of purchasing this additional land?

  • We hope to harvest 60 to 70 bags of paddy and 3.5 loads of straw from this new land.
  • If we get a proper monsoon then the harvests from both the land will cover 70 to 75 % of the need of rice in Hope Gardens India for a year.
  • The location of the land is good for proper water irrigation for cultivation.
  • We shall have a couple of paddy cultivations and harvests in this land in a year.
  • We can also provide job opportunities for 55 women and 30 men per harvest in this land.

Why does Hope Gardens invest in paddy fields?
It has always been our vision to provide employment and training opportunities to enhance the lives of the communities that we serve.

Where appropriate we also look for opportunities to raise revenue locally so that our projects can eventually become self sufficient.

Our investment in an additional paddy field adjacent to our property will raise revenue, provide additional jobs as well as provide rice for the children at our school, our students, staff and the local community.

Did you know?

5,000 have been delivered to families Hope Gardens. Each parcel contained rice. We distributed 3.7 tonnes of rice to our communities of which 75% was home grown by Hope Gardens! That's a whopping 2.7 tonnes of rice given to those most in need and grown by us!

Thank you for your continued support
