Royal Parks Half Marathon

Running for Hope Gardens

On Sunday 8th October the wonderful Clare, Aimee, James, Julian, Alice and Hilary are taking on a half marathon running around four of London's Royal Parks all in aid of Hope Gardens India.

They are taking on this 13.1 mile challenge running around the mighty Hyde Park, Green Park, St James's Park and Kensington Gardens to raise funds to support Hope Gardens

By running around these parks on a glorious October Sunday morning the team are aiming to raise £2000 to support the after-school clubs that Hope Gardens run for marginalised communities in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Some crazy UK temperatures and the summer break hasn't made ideal training conditions but we are so grateful to our runners for taking on this challenge.

How your support makes a difference!

Hope Gardens supports marginalised families in rural Kerala and Tamil Nadu, sponsoring children with their education, providing after school clubs and supporting families.We run 7 after school clubs which are safe places for children to come to after school while their parents often work late into the night.We provide tutoring, games, sports and a meal. It has become increasingly important that these clubs also provide a hot meal for children.

Each hot meal cost 80p so with our additional funds that we raise we aim to provide 2,500 meals - that's right 2,500 additional hot meals

£2,000 = 2,500 hot meals 

Our clubs are run in communities with many complex social issues stemmed from acute poverty including high levels of unemployment.

Children are often left to their own devices after school or work as bottle pickers rather than even attend school. Your funds will help us educated children who are often overlooked, educate the parents on the importance of education, provide pastoral care and ensure that children each day have a safe place to be and a nutritious meal.
