Hope for Children

Hope for Children has been set up specifically to look after poor and marginalised children in South India. There are four main areas of support we provide for children.

  • Child Sponsorship
  • School for Children with Disabilities.
  • Hostel
  • After School Programmes

All of these programmes enhance the lives of those children who otherwise may be overlooked.

At Hope Gardens we believe that all children have the right to be loved, treated with dignity, have access to education, be protected, be included and reach their potential regardless of their circumstances.

Child Sponsorship Programme: Transforming lives

Our objective for our child sponsorship model is very clear: to provide the education and social care of children in our communities who are most in need. In addition to this we ensure that the education and living costs of our Pastor’s children and staff of Hope Garden’s children are met. Children who are sponsored either live in our hostel or in the communities that we support. Unlike other programmes we ensure that 100% of the money that you give goes directly to support your child.

School for children with disabilities: Enabling children to realise their potential

Children with disabilities are often seen as a curse. Hope Gardens sees these children as a blessing. We care for disabled children by providing for their educational needs at our well established and respected school based in the Rhema Garden. The school has recently been recognised by DDA officers as Number One school in Theni District.

Hope Garden's hostel : Bringing hope

Our hostel provides accommodation and education for vulnerable children that are identified by our pastors in their communities or made known to ArchBishop Samuel.

In 2018 28 children were cared for in our onsite hostel where their care and education was supported through our sponsorship model.

"At 15 I ran away from the arranged marriage that my father organised for me, my new family were cruel to me and I needed a safe place to be. I wanted to continue my studies. Hope Gardens took care of me and I was able to continue with my studies until 12th standard. I am now training at medical school"

After school programme: Reaching those most in need

Every school day our church buildings are used for the community to support families by offering children a safe place to learn, play and be fed after school.

Five programmes are running in the following communities Salem, Mottamalai Cumbum Mettu. The programme in Salem has expanded this year with two additional tutoring groups

Around 30 -35 children at each of these centre are providing with a safe space with electricity for study, snacks, games and compassion. It is through these schemes that we are experiencing transformation both in the children's and their families lives.

A successful match funded Christmas Appeal raised £10,300 which will cover the operational costs of running the five programmes in 2019.
